If i may ask the members here ::
What is Your BACKGROUND ?
Where did you come to the Knowledge you have about CHRIST?
Are you affiliated with a church or orginazation ?
Which Bible do you read From ?
Do you have the Baptism of the Holy Ghost ?
Do you believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost?
Do you believe in speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the Utterance?
AND what is the Basis of your understanding and How did you come to those conclusions ?
Really like to Know to whom i am participating with , that i may understand where everyone gets their understandings of the WORD .

These are some good questions
My background is very eclectic, which I
know God had in my plans for my chosen path. I have grown up around
a plethora of denominations. My mothers side of the family is
simple: church of Christ. I grew up in a church of Christ and had
most of my early years in the theology of coC. My dad's side of the
family is this: My great grandfather was a Wesleyan Methodist and
later Pentacostal Pastor (those who know the history of the
Pentacostal movement in the early 1900's understand that) My
grandfather was Morman and subsequently my dad grew up in a Mormon
household. He even rose to a level 4 elder. Before I was born he
left the Mormon church and went back to his Pentacostal roots.
Later, he switched churches and started attending a Baptist church.
My growing up years, I was pretty much a MorWesleycostaptistofChrist.
I did receive my education from a Wesleyan college and I received
most of my theological training and degree in Pastoral Ministry as a
Wesleyan. Theologically speaking, I do tend to adhere closer to the
Wesleyan/Armenian/Keswick theology. Though I do recognise that there
are flaws in the teachings.
As far as what Bible do I read from:
Again it is very eclectic. I will do my studies with a plethora of
Bibles, to get a fuller understanding of the Holy Scriptures. I tend
to use the NIV most, but I do use the KJV, ESV, BBE, NLT, NASB, ASV,
and even the Message (not for theological understanding but for
emphasis on certain passages)
Yes I do believe in the Baptism of the
Holy Ghost, and I have recieved the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
As far as speaking in tounges, yes and
no. I believe that speaking in tongues is to edify the unbeliever.
That if I went to France, though I do not know French, I would speak
in French so they would understand what I am saying. Or, I would
speak in English, and they would hear it in French, similar to the
day of Pentacost. I do not believe that it is the gibberish that is
spoken in some Pentacostal churches. (I had a horrible experience
that led to me to do an exhaustive research on Glossalalia and this
is the conclusion that I had come to) I believe tongue speak is a
known language to someone, but unknown to the speaker.
My understanding is simply this: One
of the first books I have ever received was a Bible. I have been
preaching to stuffed animals and stuffed people since I was four. I
am not naïve enough to realize I know everything, and the more I
read of the Bible, the more I know I don't know. Since my teen
years, I have researched countless theologies and teachings, thus I
am very understanding of what people teach, even if I don't agree
with what they teach. I am always open to growth, yet somewhat
stubborn when it comes to non traditional views of the Holy
Scriptures.

Re: Information
Shalom!
I know have a testimony on here on the forum somewhere but I will recap the high points. I was raised in a lutheran background. In my late teens I began seeking spiritual answers to lifes questions. I studied world religions for a couple years seeking answers, but was not able to embrace any of the teachings fully.
I came to a personal relationship with Jesus in 1974 at a evangelistic meeting put on by a local evangelical church in my area. My development was a combination of personal bible study and interaction with local pentacostal congregations until the late 70's when I attended a nondenominational bible college for a year. I have since been involved with several differant congregations through the years,as I moved to half a dozen differant locations around the country. Primary involvement was with evangelical and baptist churches as well as nondenominational. I have served as deacon and elder in some of the congregations I attended.I have also been involved in foreign mission work overseas on differant occasions.
I currantly attend a messianic jewish congregation and have been involved there for about six to seven years now. This has been extremely benificial to round out my theology and understanding of the scriptures.
Yes I believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. My interpretation of glossalalia is very similar to Danial V's as stated in his testimony. I have spoken in tongues but consider it of the lesser gifts.
In regard to bibles I use a variety KJV,NAS are the primary versions I also use analytical and literal versions in my studies.
Having said this I must also emphasize that although good study helps are indispensible. The things of God are spiritually discerned and must be guilded by the Spirit of God.Since they are inspired by His spirit they must also be discerned by that same Spirit of truth.
Scriptural interpretation MUST be led by the HOLY SPIRIT.
OK, I understand the desire to know where people are coming from with their interpretations of scripture. I am curious as well! However we must also be careful NOT to pigion hole people, based on their "backgrounds" It is helpful to know where people have been taught and what influences they have had in their lives in their spiritual journey. However we can not stereotype individuals. I have also seen this done several times in my life among christians. I would warn against doing that as well.
The main thing is that we carefully discern truth from error and be "good Bereans". Carefully searching the scriptures and using that as our standard of measuring peoples teachings or statements. There are no perfect churches, they all have some degree of error. There are literally hundreds of denominations possibly thousands. There is only one standard and that is the word of YHVH our God.
Blessings to all in Yeshua!
