What were the dietary instructions?
I know not to eat all the roaches of the sea shimp, lobster, certain animals like pork, rabbit, and so on. Besides this what else are we doing harm to our bodies by desobedience to Yahweh's Law. Does any one know?

Re: What were the dietary instructions?
Shalom!
It apprears that most the animals that YHWH said were NOT to be food for His people are either preditors or scavengers.Basically any animal that does not have hooves. Of course this includes herbavours as well.Any water creature that does not have fins and scales like catfish and sharks also clams oysters scallops etc. We really do not know the reason for abstinence of many of the creatures.Animals like horses seem to be included because there purpose was to serve mankind.
The aspect of health is indicated in the instructions by the phrase "So that the deabilitating diseases of the Egyptians will not afflict you. This does not mean that every animal indicated as detestable or unclean for food carries disease or worms etc.We only know thatYHWH said it and therefore it is His Law.
The terms used to describe "unclean" are very strong just as kosher means Holy or set apart . Unclean carries the aspect of abominable or revolting. The same words for the way YHWH views sexual relations with animals or people of the same sex are used. This shows that to YHWH eating these things that were not intended as food is truely repulsive to Him.
Again we probably will not understand til we are with the LORD why these things are so. I have gotten to the point of being physically nauseous around pork or crab. When it is being cooked. It is no differant then cooking skunk or spiders to me. I used to love these items as "food" but I can barely be in the same room while it is being eaten now. I do not know why this is.Only that it becomes easier to avoid eating these things with time. I suppose it is the same with smokers who begin to hate the smell of cigarettes after quitting. The bottom line for me is that YHWH said it and thats good enough.
The dietary practices of Israel set them apart as differant from the nations just as Sabbath keeping does .It is a mark of identity that is manifested outwardly as a witness.
Blessings in Yeshua!

Re: What were the dietary instructions?
One of the words used in the Hebrew is the word 'tame' which means 'polluted' or 'filthy'. This is usually translated as 'unclean' or 'ceremonially unclean'. The original idea behind 'ritually unclean' is that one should never eat filth because it will make you sick. Swine and lobster and catfish etc. are God's vacuum cleaners for cleaning up all the filth and rotting flesh from the face of the earth. I have also found out the hard way that I have to be careful where I eat. If I get some pork fat off the grill from someone else's order I get sick. The only Mexican places I can eat at are the one's that cook the pork separately on a spit. It's kind of a hassle, but I had to get healthy about eight years ago and eating kosher made alot of sense. I didn't realize at the time that by eating healthy, I wouldn't be able to eat garbage anymore. I also stopped eating meat and dairy together. There is some evidence suggesting that this aids in digestion. My own experience has proven this to be true in so many ways. Keeping the dietary laws has been an incredible blessing for me.
In addition to the health benefits, when God says not to boil a kid in its mother's milk, this also teaches us compassion in that mother's milk is for sustaining life, not to kill a life.
In Lev. 17:10-16, there is the prohibition against eating blood. This passage is usually used by christians as a proof text for atonement exclusively through blood sacrifice, but the context is clear that this has to do with the prohibition against eating blood. Jim
